Want to know how to watch Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum tonight? SB Nation MMA explains and lays out all of your viewing options.

Jun 18, 2011 – Tonight beginning at 8 p.m. ET is the second installment in the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix, namely, Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum. In the main event, Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem takes on former PRIDE and UFC contender Fabricio Werdum. In the co-main event and also part of the Grand Prix, Brett Rogersf faces Josh Barnett.

So, how can you watch tonight’s events? Unlike the UFC, which offers the event on pay-per-view for television and nearly half a dozen other platforms, your options with Strikeforce are limited.

First, let’s talk about your television options. The preliminary portion of the card will air on HDNet. I’m a DirecTV subscriber, so for me that’s channel 306. HDNet is carried by the following cable carriers. To see if you if have HDNet, or any other questions related to obtaining the channel, call this HDNet hotline number: (303) 542-5507.

The main card portion of the event airs on Showtime. To figure out how to get Showtime or to order the channel for a special discounted price, go here.

For our overseas viewers, you’re in luck. That is, you’re in luck if you live in the UK or in various locations across South East Asia. For those in the United Kingdom, Primetime will be carrying the fights live. To see if your cable provider carries Tiger Gate, go here.

What about at a bar?

This is where things get tricky. The long and short of this reality is you’re going to have to be crafty. I’ve noticed several bars in town where I live (Washington, DC) that are carrying tonight’s fights, but I only discovered that by accident. Unlike the UFC which offers a searchable database (http://bars.ufc.com/) of bars that carry their events, Strikeforce doesn’t have any resource or database of participating bars. Still, what I have noticed locally is that the bars that carry UFC are precisely the same ones advertising that they are carrying Strikeforce fights tonight. My recommendation: use the UFC bar finder to locate a watering hole close to you, give them a call and see if they’re carrying the event. It’s not precise, but it’s better than not watching at all.

No matter how you watch, be sure to use SB Nation MMA for all of your Strikeforce results and coverage tonight.

Enjoy the fights.

Showtime,’The Big C’ Launch Campaigns Supporting American Cancer Society

‘C Yourself’ Encourages Viewers To Upload Photos For $5 Donations

Tim Baysinger (Broadcasting Cable) — Multichannel News, 6/17/2011 6:06:00 AM

Showtime and its original series The Big C will launch two campaigns in support of The American Cancer Society.

In conjunction with the upcoming second-season premiere of the drama about a woman’s battle with cancer, the network has launched the “C Yourself” campaign. Working through Facebook, the multiplatform campaign urges users to upload photos of themselves making a “C.” For every photo, Showtime will donate $5 to the American Cancer Society, and will award a $5,000 prize to the most creative photo.

Also, DirecTV customers who order the premium service for the first time will able to (until July 15) choose to receive either a free $25 pre-paid debit card or donate the same amount to the American Cancer Society. For every consumer that chooses to give $25, Showtime and the No. 1 DBS provider will match.

Starring Laura Linney, the second season of The Big C premieres June 27 at 10:30 p.m., following the seventh-season premiere of Weeds.

CMT Orders Pair Of Southern Reality Shows

Eight-Episode Series, Sweet Home Alabama, Texas Women, Will Air Back-To-Back, Beginning July 14

MCN Staff — Multichannel News, 6/17/2011 2:44:19 PM

CMT is going south for the subjects of a pair of upcoming reality series.
The network has ordered eight episodes apiece of romance skein Sweet Home Alabama and Texas Women, which tracks the lives of four feisty ladies from Fort Worth. The series will premiere back-to-back on July 14 at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) and 10 p.m., respectively.
Texas Women follows the rollercoaster ride of four of the Lonestar State’s most endearing and high-spirited women as they blaze their own path on the search for love, happiness and a lot of fun,” said Jayson Dinsmore, CMT executive vice president of development Jayson Dinsmore in announcing the series.”Sweet Home Alabama is the ultimate test of big city vs. down-home as a group of city slickers and country boys fight for the heart of a gorgeous Southern Belle on her home turf. CMT’s viewers are going to laugh with, cry with and root for these very relatable women as they search for their own slice of the American dream.”
In Sweet Home Alabama, produced by Glassman Media, 10 “city slickers” and 10 “country” guys will vie for the affections of Devin Grissom, a sweet southern girl from Alabama. To win her heart, the bachelors from across the country compete in challenges to win time with this belle. In each one-hour episode, Devin says goodbye to more of her suitors in the hopes of finding her true love and someone her family approves
As for the high-spirited characters from the great state of Texas, the series from 3Ball Entertainment focuses on this quartet: outspoken blonde bombshell, Anna Hunt who is as strong-willed as the bucking bulls she raises as a stock contractor; Ali Dee, an aspiring country music singer and TV host for the NBA champion Dallas Mavericks, lives with her boyfriend Cory Melton, a champion bull rider; “Hurricane Hannah” Helvey, who rooms with Hunt, is a trust-fund baby accustomed to getting what she wants; and Brooke Jeter, a professional barrel racer and part-time housewife is married to professional bronc rider Jason Jeter. Sporting a quick tongue sans filter, she still loves to party.
